SAINT MARGARET CLITHEROW - ENGLISH MARTYR - DVD

An hour long biography using especially filmed portrayals of heroic Martyr Margaret Clitherow, her family, the Shambles in York, her trial, the prisons and her execution is here presented on DVD from Mary's Dowry Productions.  She was a wife, a mother and a Catholic in Elizabethan York and her zeal for the persecuted Catholic Faith in England saw her boldly shelter hunted Catholic priests in her home.  For this crime she was eventually arrested and refused to go to trial in order to protect her family and neighbours.  Her death by law was to be crushed beneath a heavy door with a stone placed under her back.  Her final words were "Jesu, Jesu, Jesu, have mercy on me."  Set in Elizabethan England during the fierce reign of Protestant monarch Queen Elizabeth I, who with her new government were determined to crush the ancient Faith and traditions of the English people and rule England both in state and matters of Faith, this is a powerful and stirring story of bravery, love and witness at the cost of everything.
